She turns her head and looks at us

A cinema of desires, a cinema of the male gaze. This work deals with the power of illusion of the filmmedium. There is always a tension present between the appearance or the created idealized image of the woman and the actress, between film image and the reality that lies beneath the surface. This is expressed in the most intimate manner. Without being explicitly present in the frame, we get the sense it is the directors desires we see illuminated on the screen, thereby blurring the line between fiction and reality. As Slavoj Žižek would say: “Cinema is the ultimate pervert art. It doesnt give you what you desire – it tells you how to desire.”
